Teutopolis village board members have decided to leave open an easement west of Columbus Street.

The Board had received a request to vacate the 40-foot road easement as the roadway had never been developed. The residents who live there, though, also use the easement for access to the back parts of their lots, so the Board decided to leave the easement in place.

Also, the Board heard from engineer Lee Beckman that construction on a left turn lane off US Route 40 at the village business park should begin by September.

The Board awarded bids for road maintenance materials to Larry Heuerman; approved May 25 as Poppy Day in the village; and approved details for a recycling event. The event will take place on Saturday, June 9 from 8:30am to 12:30pm. The collection site will be the village maintenance building on Green Street. A list of items acceptable for the event is on the village's Facebook page. Please don't leave items at the site prior to the start of the event.
