A pair of four wheelers collided while traveling northbound on Jasper Co. RD 2150 E approximately ¼ mile south of CR 200 N., five miles southeast of St. Marie at 2:27 Saturday afternoon.

The ATV operated by Cole M. Horner, 18 of Dundas, with a 16 year old female passenger slowed and stopped for a hat that had blown off. The second ATV driven by Seth R. Meinhart, 19 of Newton, was following and rear-ended Horner's ATV.

Meinhart and his passenger, Stacey C. Smithenry, 20 of Newton, were both thrown from the four wheeler. Both were transported to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney by private vehicle. Meinhart was later flown to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

None of the riders were wearing helmets.

Meinhart was charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Meinhart and Horner were each charged with  Operating a Non-Highway Vehicle on a Roadway.
