2018 Graduation This Weekend for EHS, SAHS

Effingham High School and St. Anthony High School will be graduating their Classes of 2018 this weekend.

EHS graduation is set for 2pm Sunday in EHS Gym. This will be the first year for an air-conditioned ceremony since the installation of a system last summer.

Meredith Kull will offer the invocation and senior class president Patrick Sherrod will speak. Also addressing the audience will be 10 co-valedictorians. They are Kaylee Allred, Zoe Bridges, Kourtney Cordes, Reilly Durham, Emily Kelly, Bryce Lohman, Grace Lybarger, Will O'Bryan, Ryan Sandifer and Jacob Swan.

EHS Principal Kurt Roberts will present the class to Unit 40 School Board President Jeff Michael who present the diplomas. Benjamin Meinhart will deliver the benediction.

The EHS Band will present the music.

The St. Anthony High School Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Ceremony will be held Saturday night at 7:00.

Father Chuck Edwards will be the presider, with Frs. Michal Rosa and Zach Edgar as con-celebrants. Siblings of the graduates will be the servers and St. Anthony High School choir members will present prelude music. Members of the Class of 2018 will help with various aspects of the Mass.

Following the Mass, Ethan Rozene will present the Salutatorian Speech and Olivia Clausius and McKenna Steineman will sing a communion hymn. This year's 50-year graduation speaker will be Judy (Koester) Sehy, and principal Greg Fearday will present the diplomas, and will present the Spirit of Saints Francis and Clare Award, given to a student "who has strived to live out a life centered on Christ and has attracted others to His light". 

Maryann Saba will share the valedictorian speech, followed by a senior tribute, "The Call".
