(EFFINGHAM ROTARY NOON CLUB PRESIDENT KAYE DENT AND NOON CLUB MEMBER NORBERT SOLTWEDEL)

Norbert Soltwedel has traveled to Africa nine times. He has learned about the people there, especially in the nation of Uganda, and some of their needs.

Soltwedel also believes he has a way to assist those in a community in the nation, through a food cooperative. A feed mill could generate enough feed to sustain a large number of checkens.

Soltwedel said the co-op members have the chickens, but they don't have the ability to grow enough feed right now, mainly because their farms are only an acre or two. That's enough to feed their family, but not enough to also feed the chickens.

That led Soltwedel to pursue funds to pay for the mill. The Noon Rotary Board viewed the project favorably and are expected to help raise money.

Noon Rotary also saw members Jim Rutledge and Norma Lansing recognized for reaching Paul Harris Fellow giving milestones. A Paul Harris Fellow, named for Rotary's founder, is given for each $1,000 given to the Rotary Foundation.

Also, Assistant Director Governor Carrie Crippen presented Immediate Past President Amanda McKay a Presidential Citation for the goals reached during her presidency.
