Dieterich Board Buys Books and Uniforms, Acts on Personnel

Dieterich school board members Monday approved the purchase of new junior high Science textbooks, and also approved the purchase of new junior high boys basketball uniforms.

The Board designated Doug Baxter as the district's representative on the Eastern Illinois Area Special Education Board and Thad Goebel as the alternate; and accepted a $5,000 library grant through the Illinois Secretary of State and commended District Librarian Mary Richars for obtaining the grant. Board members also approved the District opening an account with WePay in order to receive credit card and online payments from district families.

Board members accepted a donation of $5,500 from the Dieterich PTO to be used toward the purchase of a new mobile Chromebook Lab for the district; approved the district handbooks for the coming school year; contracted with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center for athletic trainer services for the coming school year; and approved a proposal from Martinsville Roofing for roof repairs for $9,816.

The Board accepted the resignation of Special Education teacher Ashley Rentfro; hired Hunter Kinnison, Devin Flach and Ethan Kidd as student summer workers; hired Rae Lyn Schmidt as high school Cheer and Dance coach; hired Jason Newkirk as high school JV girls basketball coach; hired Lindsay Burton as head junior high girls basketball coach; and re-hired other coaches and sponsors.

The Board also approved the readmittance of a student back into Dieterich High School for the coming school year.
