Fire did major damage Christmas night to First United Methodist Church's building along Walnut Street in Robinson.

The fire started around 6pm Tuesday.  Nine fire departments were called to the scene.

The historic building had been in use since 1899 for a congregation established in Robinson in 1847.

Officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

Church Pastor Rev. Tiffany Black said the congregation will continue to meet, though, saying, "We all continue to meet, we are still a body of Christ, the building was just that, a building."
