Effingham Park District Director Jeff Althoff told the Park Board Wednesday that numbers are comparable to last year for Park District summer programs, with one exception.

Althoff said enrollment is way up for Adventure Camp, the full-day outdoor activity camp begun last summer. He said the camp averaged 43 children last year with a peak of 71 children.

This year, the average enrollment is 98 children, with a peak enrollment of 130 children.

Althoff said parents asked the program to be increased from 10 to 12 weeks to take care of the full summer break from school. He said the program is great way to get kids outside for the summer.

The Park Board retained the current slate of officers for the coming year. Dennis Carie will continue as Park Board President, with Russ Sehy back as Vice-President. Board members Chris Huelsbusch and Jason Semple will serve on the Budget Committee and will work with Althoff to prepare a tentative budget for the new year. Also returning are Tony Siemer as Park District Attorney, Althoff as Secretary, Anita Broom as Treasurer, and Carol McDevitt as Recording Secretary.

Althoff reported that the portion of sport court soaked with water from a broken sprinkler head at the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex will not need to be replaced. He said the work done by Servpro and staff members at the Complex saved the flooring.
