The Illinois Department of Transportation (Region 4/District 7) cautions motorists that the yearly maintenance striping operations will begin on State highways.

"The pavement striping equipment travels at a speed of approximately 15 MPH when applying the paint. Motorists should be alert, be patient and pass only when it is safe to do so" said Mike Worthey, Traffic Operations Supervisor.

Over 2,000 miles of pavement in the District will have fresh center line, edge line and no passing zones by the end of October.

Region 4/District 7 includes the counties of Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Edwards, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Macon, Moultrie, Richland, Shelby, Wabash and Wayne.
