A small fire damaged the electrical system at Fasmart on West Fayette, causing the station to close until repairs are completed.

Effingham Fire Chief Joe Holomy said a lighted cigarette was sitting on a wall just outside the front door of the station. The strong winds today blew the cigarette down into a space between a window and the brick facing on the building.

Holomy said there wasn't much fire, but enough to disrupt the electrical system. He thinks repairs should be completed this afternoon and the station will re-open today.

No one was injured. Effingham firefighters were called at 1pm, and cleared the scene about 45 minutes later.
