A fifth candidate has filed for a seat on the Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education.

K.L. Cleeton of Effingham has filed from Douglas Township.  Cleeton, a recent U of I graduate after attending Unit 40 schools, joins incumbent Galen Altman of Summit Township and challengers Steve Bone and James Keith of Douglas Township and James Osborn of Summit Township as contenders for three seats to be filled in the April 9 election.

The seats up for grabs are now held by Brian Wick of Summit Township and Brad Meinhart of Douglas Township along with Altman.  Wick took out a nominating petition, but Meinhart is not seeking re-election.

The Unit 40 board office will be closed Monday and Tuesday, but will be open Wednesday until 5pm for anyone else who would like to file.

As of mid-morning Friday, there were two people known to be interested or filing in seats on the Effingham Park Board.

City of Effingham employee Chris Huelsbusch and incumbent board member Dennis Carie are expected to file.  Incumbent Mike Sehy is not seeking another term.

The filing period runs through Wednesday, but the Park District Office will be closed both Monday and Tuesday.
