Two crashes in the area resulted in injuries and were related to Thursday evening's weather.

One crash occurred at 4:56pm on the Montrose-Dieterich blacktop, a half-mile south of Montrose.  State police say strong crosswinds caused a semi driven by 49-year-old David Sloan of Salem to overturn on the roadway.

Sloan was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

The other crash occurred at 6:25pm on I-70 between Vandalia and Mulberry Grove.  Two vehicles driven by 55-year-old Norman Richard of Norton, Ohio and 35-year-old Roman Guzman of Indianapolis slid off into the median.  A third unit driven by 51-year-old Kevin Rule of Greenville slid off into the median and struck the Richard vehicle, causing the Richard unit to hit the Guzman vehicle.

Rule and Richard were injured.  Rule was taken to Greenville Hospital while Richard was taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
