A firm called Wabash Communications will be bringing fiber optic service through Teutopolis, so the village board invited a representative of the company to Wednesday night's meeting to share whether it could mean Internet service for non-served or underserved portions of the village.

Barry Adair of Wabash indicated that if enough residents are interested, they would make the service available. Interested residents can go to wabash.net to find more and to indicate if they're interested in receiving the service.

Board members also approved the contract agreements with Connor and Connor Engineers for a utility infrastructure project for Farmweld, which is expanding its production plans on the east end of the village.

Dashiell Construction of Marshall earlier was awarded the water and sewer line work associated with the project for just over $227,000.

The Board appropriated $23,000 in motor fuel tax funds; awarded work to "Imagine This" for $2,000 to redesign the village's website, and annexed the Martin property along Water Street into the village so it can be developed with a house.
