A Dieterich resident faces felony charges after a pursuit in Clay County.

35-year-old Adam Pipkins was arrested after the incident, which occurred on Friday.

A Clay County sheriff's deputy observed an ATV headed north on US Route 45, just south of Louisville, about 5:15pm. The deputy attempted to stop the ATV but the vehicle continued northbound. The pursuit was terminated when the ATV entered the Louisville village limits.

The deputy later located the ATV behind a residence east of Louisville with the suspected driver, Pipkins, still on the ATV, unconscious. Clay County Sheriff's Department reported that Pipkins attempted to resist the deputy as he was taken into custody, but was unsuccessful, and he was taken to Clay County Jail in Louisville.

Pipkins has been charged with aggravated fleeing to elude a police officer, resisting a peace officer, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. Pipkins is also wanted on warrants from Effingham County charging forgery and unlawful possession of a converted motor vehicle.

In Clay County Court this week, Pipkins' bond was set at $65,000. He is next due in court on April 2.
