Authorities say initial information indicates no foul play in the death of a local man.

The death is that of 69-year-old George Troxel, Jr. of Effingham. City police responded to a home in the 100 block of Poplar Drive just before 8pm Sunday after a report of a deceased male.

Police say the City's Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Illinois State Police Crime Scene detectives are conducting an ongoing investigation.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said friends had gone to check on Troxel's welfare and then notified authorities. Rhodes said an autopsy has been conducted and that she is awaiting the results of toxicology tests to help determine the cause of death.
