The heavy rainfall has closed Lake Sara to all boat traffic.

Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks made the announcement this afternoon, and said the closing is in effect until further notice.

Several rural roads are closed due to flooding.

County Engineer Greg Koester said 300th Avenue, also known as the Mason-Eberle Road, is closed in Union Township. 1000th Street, also known as the Funkhouser Road is closed in the Boggsville bottoms.

An area three miles north of Mason on County Highway 24, also known as 920th Road, is underwater as is County Highway 9, or 1800th Avenue in the bottoms there.

500th Street, north of Illinois 33 near Beecher City, is also closed due to flooding and many other minor roadways that go through river bottoms are underwater.

Some additional rainfall is expected today, but we might get a respite on Wednesday. More rain is in the forecast, though, for later in the week and into the weekend.
