Effingham Park District Director Jeff Althoff said local residents are doing a great job of taking their dogs to parks and letting them exercise. Folks, though, are not all doing well at cleaning up after Fido.

A local resident attended Wednesday night's Park Board meeting to complain that too many people are not cleaning up after their pooches. Althoff agreed and said they will put out stations with baggies to allow people to pick up after pets.

Althoff said it's getting to the point where not cleaning up the droppings "will ruin it for everyone".

Also Wednesday, the Board made its $489,000 payment toward retiring the debt on the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex, and learned that total enrollment at the Complex is now at just over 6,000 members.

The Board annexed the Pike property on West Fayette into the Park District, and retained Mark Kenter for audit work.

Board member Jason Semple suggested more swings be placed in Community Park. Althoff said the swings will be added as funds permit.
