Polar Plunge Raises More Than $55,000

Another year, another successful Polar Plunge.

This year's event took place Saturday at Lake Sara and raised $55,368.77 for Special Olympics Illinois. 281 brave souls leaped into the frigid waters.

The Golden Plunger Award for the highest amount raised by an individual went to Ken Thompson for raising $4,630. The Top Cop Trophy went to Chris Thies, the law enforcement officer that raised the most money, a total of $1,120.
