The Teutopolis Village Board is moving ahead with development of a residential subdivision on the village's southeast side.

The Board awarded a bid for $358,874.57 to A.J. Walker Construction of Mattoon for infrastructure work in Phase One of Prairie View Subdivision, involving 29 residential lots. The project will include street work, storm drains and guttering, and dirt work in the subdivision.

The Board also voted to utilize AmerenIllinois to provide gas and electric service to the lots. The Village will receive back the cost of its investment as people purchase the lots.

Village board members also have voted to amend the open burning ordinance. Open burning in Teutopolis is now limited to Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays between 6am and 6pm on those days. Residents may only burn landscape waste and brush.
