Applicants Sought to Fill Coroner Vacancy

The Effingham County Republican Central Committee is setting up a procedure for selecting a candidate for County Coroner to be submitted to the Effingham County Board. This candidate will be the Committee's recommendation to the County Board to fill the vacancy of the Coroner office due to the passing of Duane Guffey. Anyone interested in applying for this position will need to follow these instructions.

Submit your resume’ with references and a brief letter explaining why you should be the person selected to fill the coroner vacancy. Send your information to the Effingham County Republican Central Committee to the address below, as well as emailing it to ecrcc18@gmail.com. You must do both of these. Republican Committee Chairman Rob Arnold will email a confirmation back to you letting you know he received your email.

This information needs to be received before 4 PM on March 2, 2018 to the address and email given above. No late entries will be allowed.

This vacancy will need filled for a period of time between the appointed date (approximately March 12) and November 30, 2018. The Effingham County Republican Party will hold a caucus in June to formally select the candidate that will be placed on the election ballet. That Coroner term will be for two years and will then go back to the original election cycle for Coroner.

Depending on the number of entries received, the Committee may have to prequalify some candidates. Those selected will be contacted to set up a single interview during the week of March 5th through March 9th. Once the interviews are completed, Arnold will contact each of the applicants and inform them of the person selected. The plan is to have the name selected on or before March 9. Arnold will then pass that name onto the Effingham County Board at the Board's recessed meeting on March 12th at 1:30 PM.
