Three Crashes w/Injuries in the Area

Police have investigated three crashes resulting in injuries in the area in recent days.

An Effingham man was injured in a crash just after 9am Saturday northwest of the city.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies report a pickup truck driven by 28-year-old Kyle Young skidded out of control, went into the opposite lanes and struck a guardrail. The crash happened on Illinois Routes 32/33 at 1200th Street.

Young was injured and was treated at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. No citations were issued.

Two people were injured in a crash at 2:22pm Monday on I-57 northbound, just south of the south trilevel. 

State police report 20-year-old Donta Johnson of Chicago attempted to change lanes and lost control of her car. The vehicle skidded sideways off the road to the right, went through a grassy ditch, up an embankment and into a wooded area. The car struck a large tree with the driver's side of the vehicle before coming to rest.

Johnson and a passenger, 18-year-old Kenna Johnson of Odin, were injured and were treated at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Troopers cited Donta Johnson on counts of driving on a revoked license and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash. Donta Johnson and her two passengers, one of whom was uninjured, were all cited for failure to wear a seat belt.

A Robinson woman was injured in a crash in Clark County just after 7pm Monday.

The crash happened on Illinois Route 1 at Wilderness Road, about four miles north of West Union. 

State police report 24-year-old Carleigh Jo Welsh was southbound when her car left the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail before coming to rest in a steep ditch. 

Welsh was taken to Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson for treatment of what were termed minor injuries. Welsh was cited for improper lane usage, DUI drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
