The City of Effingham has named StangARTs Studio and Gallery as a recipient of the City of Effingham’s Business Appreciation Award.

“I’m absolutely amazed at the traction that Jamie Stang Ellis and StangArts have created in a short time here in Effingham,” stated Mayor Jeff Bloemker. “ In seven years they have turned the arts education scene on its head. They cross several demographics every day to introduce arts to the Effingham region and they have brought energy and excitement and innovation to the downtown area. We thank them so much for choosing Effingham!”

Jamie Stang-Ellis opened StangARTs Studio and Gallery seven years ago when she saw the opportunity in Effingham. Jamie Stang-Ellis stated, “I had lived in Panama City Beach for 11 years and each time I came home, I had this feeling that the Effingham community and surrounding areas needed a creative outlet for all ages and needs. I love my hometown, so this was an easy decision.” StangARTs has made it their mission to build kids and adults up through a creative outlet, where people can create masterpiece of their own from the inside out.

In 2010, StangARTs started in a small space above the American Legion to test the waters. Their first class had 40 spots and 52 people showed up. From there, they kept moving up. In 2011 they moved to their current downtown location on Washington Avenue. StangARTs has now grown from one employee, Jamie, to a staff of 19 amazingly creative people.

Giving back is always top of mind at StangARTs. Jamie and her husband Tim set an example for their employees by generously supporting and volunteering for Effingham Animal Control. Jamie is also heavily involved in children’s ministries, the CEO program, the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Effingham Business Group, helping the homeless, and creating creative events for the community. StangART’s Off Campus After School Program is one of the things Jamie is most proud of. Through this program, StangARTs donates 20%, roughly $5, of each child’s fee back to the schools to help with any children or school needs. Through this program, StangARTs goes to Effingham and surrounding area schools to deliver a 2-hour creative art program. They have grown to involve 18 schools, and this past year they were able to give back close to $29,000. “We care about the kids’ future and are thankful to be a part of their journeys,” stated Stang-Ellis. “This is the highlight of our week. I love this community and the people that are in it. I am proud to say that I am from a place that comes together no matter what and stands tall. My goal is to inspire others to give of their time and pursue your own masterpiece of life.”

StangARTs has created a community atmosphere and space for young and old to enjoy their creativity. “Making a difference is what we are all about,” stated Stang-Ellis. “I want to say a very big thank you to my team for reaching for the stars and growing into their purpose, and for wanting to be in the journey with me. StangARTs wouldn’t be where we are today without each person that is a part of the StangARTs family and the community that believes in our mission.

The City of Effingham appreciates the positive impact that StangARTs Studio and Gallery has had on the Effingham Community and we would like to congratulate them on receiving this award.
