Two Effingham City Police Promotions

Effingham Police Chief Jeffrey Fuesting announced the promotion of John Maguire from the rank of Patrolman to the rank of Sergeant, and the promotion of Jason Caraway from the rank of Sergeant to the rank of Lieutenant.

Sergeant Maguire is a 10-year police veteran. He has previously served as a Patrol Officer and Detective. Sergeant Maguire is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a graduate of American Military University with a Masters degree in Criminal Justice. He is a military veteran, having served as a Captain in the Illinois National Guard.

Chief Fuesting said, "Sergeant Maguire's military background coupled with his Detective experience will benefit the entire department. I look forward to seeing him develop in his new role as a supervisor."

Lieutenant Caraway is a 10-year police veteran. He has previously served as a Patrol Officer, Community Policing Officer, and Patrol Squad Supervisor. Lieutenant Caraway is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Science. 

Lieutenant Caraway will assume the responsibility as one of two Bureau Commanders in the Bureau of Patrol. Chief Fuesting stated, "Lieutenant Caraway has made meaningful contributions to the department. I'm proud of his accomplishments while serving in the Community Policing Office and look forward to seeing his patrol squads grow under his leadership."

Sergeant Maguire and Lieutenant Caraway began their new duties on Saturday.
