While the Altamont School District deals with the death of one of their administrators, there is also concern about the condition of two Altamont Grade School students who were injured in an ATV crash over the weekend.

No details are yet available on the four-wheeler crash from Illinois State Police, but Altamont school officials confirm that the girls were injured. They are sisters Mya Miller, an 8th grader at AGS, and Jaylynn Miller, a 6th grade student. Both girls were taken for treatment after the crash, which occurred early Saturday evening at the home of the girls' grandparents at St. Elmo.

The incident occurred just hours before the death of Altamont Athletic Director and Assistant Principal Todd Arnold, who was killed just after midnight in downtown Effingham when he was struck by a train. Arnold was 53.

Altamont school officials say calls and messages have been coming in from school districts across Illinois regarding Arnold's death. A few short hours before his death, Altamont High School Principal Jerry Tkachuk had led a jam-packed crowd at the championship game of the National Trail Conference Boys Basketball Tournament to give Arnold a round of applause for putting together another successful tournament.
