The Illinois Department of Transportation says that as of Tuesday, December 18, construction on the interstate reconstruction project around Effingham will move to Stage 2 for motorists traveling south on I-57 or west on I-70.

During this stage of the Interstate reconstruction, traffic will be moved to the newly-constructed lanes and will access both Keller Drive and Fayette Avenue via the same off-ramp and collector road, which will begin between US 45 and Keller Drive.  Motorists are asked to use patience, follow the signage and use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.

McCarthy Improvement Company of Davenport, Iowa is the prime contractor and Steve Miller is the Resident Engineer for IDOT.  Questions concerning the project should be directed to Miller at 342-4523 or to Charlie Slavens or Bob Utz at the Effingham IDOT office at 342-3951.
