Car vs Deer Accident Sends Three Year Old to Hospital

A three-year-old boy was injured when a SUV was struck by a deer atttempting to cross the road.

31-year-old Kelly Frohning of Montrose was traveling east on I-70, two miles east of Effingham, when the incident occurred at 10:25 Saturday morning.

State police report two deer were trying to cross the roadway. Frohning avoided one deer, but the second deer struck the driver's side back door of the vehicle.

The three-year-old passenger was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued in the crash.
