Flora Man Gets Five Years in Prison

A Flora man has been sentenced to five years in prison on two different offenses.

36-year-old Ryan Staton was sentenced for criminal damage to property. Staton took solid copper wire that he removed from utility poles. Staton damaged property owned by Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative by removing the copper wire from utility poles.

Staton was also sentenced to five years in prison for possession of methamphetamine.

The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff's Department and Illinois State Police.
