St. Anthony Bellettes Coach Lynn Buenker said she "set pretty high goals in the summer" for her squad. Those goals are being met and that has led the dance squad to make it to the State Tournament prelims this Friday.

The Bellettes are no strangers to state competition, but Buenker said it's been "a couple years" since the squad has hit these heights. The group has reached the Top 30 statewide. They have to finish in the Top 12 in the prelims Friday to advance to the finals on Saturday.

The competition will take place at Groessing Motors Arena (the former US Cellular Coliseum) in Bloomington. The Bellettes finished in the Top 6 at the Sectional competition in Mascoutah last weekend to make it to State.

Buenker said the competition is "so close...tenths of points separate the teams".

This year's Bellettes are seniors Jaden Bracey, Meg Deters and Avery Elder; juniors Allie Dasenbrock, Kaitlyn Dust, Sophie Moore and AJ Zaccari; sophomores Bryonna Meskiman and Catherine Willenborg; and freshmen Macy Ludwig, Morgan Schuette, Reagan Westendorf, Peyton Ellis and Megan Koenig.

The Bellettes are set to perform in the preliminaries Friday at 12:55pm. The contest should be streamed live on the IHSA website.
