A local man was injured just before noon Tuesday morning when his car struck an apartment building.

City police say 58-year-old William Brant of Effingham failed to yield while exiting a private drive. Brant's vehicle struck a vehicle driven by 62-year-old Alice Knight of Effingham.

The incident occurred at 11:44am at 101 Hendelmeyer Avenue. After the impact, Brant's vehicle continued through the T intersection, over a curb, through the lawn, and came to rest after striking and damaging the Village Apartments building.

Brant was taken for treatment to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital.

Brant was cited for failure to yield.

No one in the apartment building was injured.
