An objection is still pending before the Illinois State Board of Elections concerning a candidate for Shelby County Resident Circuit Judge.

The post became open when Judge Allan Bennett of Windsor died several weeks ago. During a special filing period, two Republicans and one Democrat filed as candidates for the office. The Republicans are attorney Dennis Atteberry of Shelbyville and Associate Judge Amanda Ade-Harlow of Moweaqua. The Democrat is Shelby County State's Attorney Gina Vonderheide of Shumway.

An objection to Atteberry's candidacy has been filed by Shelbyville resident Kaylin Tucker of Shelbyville. Tucker is alleging that Atteberry is not listed as a registered voter in Shelby County. The question centers around when Atteberry became a valid resident of Shelby County and a registered voter. He is now registered in the county.

Since candidates for resident circuit judge file through the State Board of Elections and not through the county clerk's office, it's up to the state board to rule on the objection.
