Cowden-Herrick school board members have filled a vacancy on the board.

Jason Robertson was named to the seat for the remainder of the term. Robertson succeeds Luke Nohren, who resigned from the Board.

The Cowden-Herrick board also accepted an irrevocable letter of retirement from Alan Boehm, effective June 30, and approved a reduction in force for the honorable dismissal of bus driver Charlotte Blickem.

The Board awarded a bid for $3,750 to Brumleve Canvass of Teutopolis for awnings over the main entrance to the high school building and at two entrances at Herrick Grade School. Board members also reinstated the 8th grade trip to Six Flags contingent upon students raising admission money, with the district furnishing a bus and driver, rejected a bid on selling a 2004 school bus, and accepted a bid of $1,800 from 5 Inc. Specialty Floor for volleyball sleeves and plates for the high school building.

The Board expelled a student for the remainder of the school year and excluded the student from attending school-sponsored events home or away during that time period. Jason Manley was approved as volunteer 5th and 6th grade basketball coach for this season.
