The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education acted on some changes in personnel Thursday night. The changes involve district custodians.

The Board hired Ryan Koester to work at Effingham High School, and transferred high school custodian Jeff Baker from second shift to the mid-day shift.

Leaves were approved for two other custodians; Joe Freimuth received an extension on his leave, while Melvin Haarmann was granted a leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act.

The Board also acted on two student expulsions.

One student was expelled through the end of the 2018-19 school year. Another student was expelled through the end of the first semester of the 2018-19 school year. Both students will have the option of entering alternative education programs.
