The Cumberland Board of Education got the lowdown on the activities of their athletic trainer at this month's meeting.

Tanner Krumweide's work as trainer at Cumberland is funded through an NFL grant. The grant also pays for equipment that would otherwise be unavailable to the district.

An example of the new Game Ready machine that Krumweide said provides compression and cold therapy to athletes with muscle and joint injuries. He said that many smaller colleges aren't as well equipped as Cumberland currently is because of the purchases made through the NFL grant.

Also at the meeting, Superintendent Todd Butler thanked the Village of Greenup for their help repairing a water main break, and thanked the Toledo Fire Department for help in cleaning up the mud and debris in the water main area.

The Board approved the fiscal year tax levy; abated the levy by $50,000 in the bond and interest fund; and renewed Workers Compensation coverage through Employers Insurance Group.

The Cumberland Board approved an agreement with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center providing a one-time monetary contribution of $5,000 to the district for advertising space in Waldrip Gym at the high school. Following a closed session, the Board accepted the resignation of Amy Carr as the middle school girls assistant basketball coach.
