Cowden-Herrick School Board Loses Member

The Cowden-Herrick Board of Education has accepted the resignation of Luke Nohren as a member of the board. The resignation was effective immediately.

The Board is accepting applications to fill the vacancy on the board until January 10. The plan is to name Nohren's successor at the Board's January 11 meeting.

Board members tabled action on purchase of awnings over three exterior entrance doors, but after initially tabling the issue, the Board voted not to reinstate an 8th grade graduation ceremony.

The Board purchased a high school volleyball net system from BSN Sports for $2,999.99; hired Madonna Shellenbarger as additional Herrick maintenance help during Christmas break; and approved a maternity leave request for Kristen Nohren this coming May and June.

Board members accepted resignations from bus drivers Larry Blickem and Rick Green as of the end of the school year, and then hired Jessica Bunch as a fulltime bus driver beginning with next school year. Randy Heckert was hired as a volunteer assistant junior high basketball coach Bob Davis was hired as a volunteer assistant 5th and 6th grade basketball coach.
