Filing Period Starts for Shelby Resident Circuit Judge

The filing period for the office of Resident Circuit Judge of Shelby County began today.

The filing period will conclude on Tuesday, December 26. Filing takes place at the Illinois Board of Elections in Springfield.

Those filing are seeking to succeed Judge Allen Bennett of Windsor, who died in late November.

Judge Bennett was up for retention in 2018, so there would have been an election for the office, anyway.

Despite the special filing period, the primary election for the office, if necessary, will be part of the regular March primary and the regular general election in November.
