Effingham Teen Taken Into Custody After Pursuit, Crash

An Effingham teenager was taken into custody following a pursuit and crash Friday night.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department report 18-year-old Justin Kollman was being pursued by Stewardson police about 8:45pm for a traffic violation. As Kollman's car was headed south on 900th Street just south of 2100th Avenue, Kollman lost control of the vehicle. The car ran off the roadway into a ditch, then over to the opposite ditch and into a field. The vehicle continued traveling in the field and struck a tree.

Kollman fled the scene, but was later apprehended.

Kollman was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Kollman was arrested on counts of reckless driving, not wearing a seat belt, no driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash, resisting a peace officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, driving without lights when required, driving in the wrong lane, and unlawful display of registration.
