Two people reported for panhandling in Flora were later found to be suspects in a West Virginia homicide case.

Flora Police Chief John Nicholson said his office was contacted about 1:30pm Thursday about two people at a convenience store who were asking people for money. Police went to the scene, but the suspects had left. The officers wondered whether the subjects were still in town looking for money so checked at the Flora Walmart and found a vehicle that matched the description of the suspects' vehicle. The officers ran a check on the vehicle and found that the Indiana license plate on the car had been stolen.

When the suspects came out of the store, police detained them and learned they were wanted in West Virginia on various charges including a parole violation. Further information uncovered that the two suspects...33-year-old Kenneth Leroy McCoy and 25-year-old Jessica Nicole Roberts, both of Parkersburg, West Virginia...were being sought in a homicide investigation and that the car they were in possession of belonged to the victim of the homicide.

Flora police took McCoy and Roberts into custody and they are being held in Clay County Jail in Louisville, awaiting extradition to West Virginia.
