Young Found Guilty of Criminal Sexual Assault

An Effingham County jury has found Charles Young guilty of criminal sexual assault.

The jury returned their guilty verdict at 2:26pm Thursday. Judge Allan Lolie scheduled a sentencing hearing for February 12. Lolie ordered Young held without bond until sentencing.

Young, a traveling dance instructor, was charged with sexual conduct with an underage dance student. He claimed he was with another individual when the offense was alleged to have occurred.

The trial began on Monday.

Criminal sexual assault is a Class 1 felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
