A car and a semi collided Tuesday afternoon on the interstate heading through Effingham, injuring two Rantoul residents.

State police say the crash occurred at 1:52pm at the Keller Drive interchange. Units involved were a car driven by 69-year-old Stephen Robbins of Rantoul and a semi driven by 28-year-old Muhammad Siraad of Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Both units were southbound/westbound and the units came together and made contact near the center lane line. After impact, Robbins' car ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail.

Robbins was injured, along with his passenger, 36-year-old Anna Schuster of Rantoul, and both were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued.
