Neoga school board members have finalized a three-year contract with district teachers.

The contract will extend through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Superintendent Ben Johnson said those who worked through the years of freezes in pay will get two steps on the salary schedule or one step depending on when they were hired, while new hires this year already know their pay rate. The Board also approved 2% pay increases for district support staff members.

Johnson said the increases will cost the district about $100,000.

Board members discussed the tax levy for the new fiscal year. The district is looking at a 10% increase over what was actually extended for taxes last year. A hearing on the levy will take place the night of the December 14 board meeting.

In personnel moves, the Neoga board accepted Mike Roy's resignation as junior high boys assistant basketball coach and hired Tim Pezan to fill the position. Roy was then approved as a non-paid junior-senior high school boys assistant coach. The Board also hired Roberta Gingerich as junior-senior high school secretary as of January 1, and approved Jackie Richards as a non-paid junior high volleyball assistant coach. The Board accepted Brittany Pourchot's resignation as a paraprofessional.

Neoga board members discussed the potential sale of the former Neoga Elementary School building, which is now being used in part as an Early Childhood Center. It's expected the Board will vote in December to sell the building, with a decision then on how to dispose of the structure, either by auction or be sealed bids, which are the options provided by law.
