A warrant has been issued in connection to a burglary that occurred at AT&T Communications, 1301 Thelma Keller Blvd., on October 11 at approximately 10:43 P.M.

The store sustained damage to the outside glass door where two suspects gained entry. Once inside, the suspects damaged an interior door, and proceeded to steal two headphone sets valued at $299.99 each before exiting the store through the shattered front door.

Similar smash-and-grab burglaries that target cellular phone businesses have occurred throughout the state in the recent past.

Effingham Police, working in conjunction with police agencies in northern Illinois, identified a vehicle at the scene of the Effingham burglary that is owned by Matthew D. R. Moore, 23, Chicago. Video surveillance and other evidence collected at the scenes of the numerous break-ins positively identify Moore as one of the suspects. An Effingham County warrant for Burglary was recently issued for Moore, with bond set at $25,000.00. Moore is a suspect in multiple other burglaries in and around northern Illinois.

“Utilizing technology and all the networks available, not only locally, but also throughout the state, helps us tremendously in a case like this,” commented Chief Jeffrey Fuesting. “Being located at the intersection of two major interstates, Effingham is vulnerable to individuals coming in with the intent to commit a crime then leave. Teaming up with other jurisdictions to solve these types of crimes helps send a message to those would-be criminals that we will not tolerate their behavior, and we will wisely use our resources to prosecute those responsible and protect the citizens of Effingham.”
