An Effingham woman was injured in a crash involving a truck and SUV early this week.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies said the crash occurred at 9:49am Monday in the West Fayette river bottoms, a half-mile west of 1100th Street.

A truck driven by 50-year-old Timothy Parkhurst of Hidalgo was slowing to make the curve on West Fayette, but lost control of his truck, which went into the other lane. The truck struck the SUV driven by 68-year-old Doris Wiedman of Effingham.

Wiedman was injured in the crash and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Parkhurst was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
