A Brownstown man sentenced earlier to prison on a count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child has been re-sentenced.

67-year-old Lloyd Merkley was arrested on the charge in 2012 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The sentence was later vacated on appeal. In court Tuesday, Merkley again admitted to the crime and was re-sentenced, this time to seven years in prison.

A prison term was also handed out to another Brownstown man this week.

46-year-old Bruce Evans pleaded guilty to a count of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and was sentenced to three years in prison.

That sentence will run consecutive to another three-year prison term Evans received after pleading guilty to a count of unlawful possession with intent to deliver meth.

Evans was arrested on the offense in March.
