Members of Arrow of Light Den of Cub Scout Pack #335 led in the Pledge of Allegiance at the opening of Tuesday night's Effingham City Council meeting.

The members posed for a photo with Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker after completing their duties.

Representatives of SWAN (Stopping Woman Abuse Now) were on hand for the Mayor's proclamation of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Effingham Assistant Fire Chief Matt Kulesza, City EMA Director Kim Tegeler and Fire Chief Joe Holomy posed with the Mayor on behalf of Great ShakeOut Day, designed to promote earthquake preparedness.

Representatives of HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital were on hand as the Mayor issued a proclamation to honor the 140-year celebration of the hospital. St. Anthony Hospital opened in 1877, two years after the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis arrived to begin a ministry of help and healing.
