Effingham Public Library board members were updated Monday on the library's reorganization plan.

Three positions were filled internally. Johnna Schultz was named assistant director, Colby Higgs was appointed user experience manager, and Catherine Bailey was named programming outreach manager. Two positions are still open: a part-time marketing coordinator and a library coordinator.

The Board approved the levy for the new fiscal year. Library Director Amanda McKay said the levy totals just $3,000 more than last year.

There was discussion about the former library facility on Market Avenue. McKay said there was some recent vandalism at the location, along with some other facilities in that area, but nothing is missing.

The Board also discussed per capita grants sought by the Illinois State Library Literacy Program and assistance that could be provided to agencies like CEFS that provide adult literacy services.

There was also review of plans for this year's Family Read Night, set for Thursday, November 16 at the Hearts Rock Cafe at Effingham High School. The library will also be participating in the Effingham Halloween Parade on Sunday, October 29.
