Two Injured in Single Vehicle Crash South of Altamont

State Police report that at 4:31 Saturday Afternoon a Jeep Wrangler driven by Amie L. Michels, 33, of Odin was traveling northbound on North 1st Street (which is the Effingham/Fayette County Line) just north of CR 600N in Effingham County.  The Jeep left the roadway to the left, went through the ditch and overturned multiple times into a field and came to final rest on its side.

Michels and her passenger Aaron K. Abendoth, 31 of Odin, were both injured and flown from the scene by Arch and Air Evac helicopters to St. John's Hospital.

Abendroth was charged with Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.

Michels was charged with DUI Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Improper Lane Usage, No Insurance, Failure to Wear Seatbelt, and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.
