Preliminary investigative details from the Illinois State Police indicate at 1:38am Friday morning a semi driven by Shelli R. Ferguson of Texas was traveling north on Interstate 57 near milepost 154 when it lost part of its load on the roadway which were large pieces of metal. She then left the scene.

Three other semis operated by Gilberto Medina of Mexico, Cedric Walker and William Phillips both of Tennessee, all crashed into the spilled load on the roadway.  Phillips's and Walker's semis each required a tow from the scene due to damage.

Walker was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment of minor injuries.

Ferguson was charged with leaving the scene of a injury crash, failure to render aid/information, improper lane usage, unsecure load, and a false log book.  She was also wanted on a warrant.
