Sheriff's Office Seeking Dieterich Man

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office is seeking your assistance in locating a Dieterich man for his alleged role in discharging a firearm at a Dieterich residence.

33-year-old Scott R. Langford is being sought on a charge of reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with an incident that occurred last Thursday night. Deputies were called to 204 W. Center Street in Dieterich at 11:20pm Thursday on a complaint that a firearm was discharged inside the residence. Patrol deputies responded to the area and spoke with the alleged victim and witnesses to the incident. The alleged victim and the witnesses allege Langford fired a shot at them while they were present inside the residence.

Deputies and sheriff's department detectives Friday executed a search warrant and collected evidence at the residence related to the incident. Authorities later issued a warrrant for Langford's arrest  on counts of reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon. Authorities say Langford's whereabouts are unknown and that an investigation into the incident continues.

Langford is described as 6’01” tall with brown hair and blue colored eyes.
