A Farina woman was injured Wednesday morning when her car struck a tow truck on the scene of an earlier crash.

The incident occurred at 6am Wednesday on I-57 southbound, three miles south of Farina. State police report a car driven by 57-year-old Cynthia Dippold of Farina was traveling in the left lane. Dippold looked away from the roadway watching the cleanup of the earlier crash and didn't notice the tow truck parked on the left shoulder. Dippold's car veered left off the roadway and struck the parked tow truck, then skidded over the southbound lanes into the right ditch.

Dippold was transported to Salem Community Hospital. She was cited for failure to yield to a stationary authorized emergency vehicle, also known as Scott's Law.
