A 30-unit apartment complex for seniors is planned for Altamont.

The Illinois Housing Development Authority has awarded $22.5 million in federal tax credits to finance projects across the state. That includes Altamont Senior Residences.

The New Directions Housing Corporation is bringing a new 30-unit housing development in Altamont. Apartments will be set aside for seniors at 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income.

The development will be located next to Gilbert Park and will feature a community room, shared garden, fitness room and a library.
