Three crashes with injuries have occurred in Effingham early this week.

Two of those crashes occurred just after 5pm Monday.

One was at the intersection of Temple Avenue and Merchant Street. A vehicle driven by 84-year-old Doris Jones of Effingham pulled into the path of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Luke Zumbahlen of Newton, causing Jones' vehicle to strike a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Karen Hoene of Effingham.

Jones was injured, but refused treatment. Jones was cited for failure to yield.

The other crash occurred at 200 South Henrietta. Police say a motorcycle operated by 38-year-old Quentin Roley of Stewardson was traveling in a turn lane, but skidded out of  control due to motor oil on the roadway. The oil came from a disabled semi in the turn lane. Roley was injured, but refused treatment. No tickets were issued.

Another crash occurred at 7:20am Tuesday at Raney and Wernsing. Police say a vehicle driven by 64-year-old Bette Newlin of Effingham pulled into the path of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Vanessa McKee of Shumway.

Both drivers were injured and were taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Newlin was cited for failure to yield.
